Another come from behind win by the Gilas squad.
Two words to describe the team. Veterans and Heart.
Veterans. Being down by as much as 13pts. They have the composure to finish it strong. It started in the first few minutes of the third quarter down by 11pts., then they had their run by pressuring defense, but after a few runs, they commited turnovers after turnovers and the lead was back to 8 or something. The game was just like that. But in the 4th quarter, the rally of the Philippine team began and they forced multiple turnovers, while started to make shots. Give credit to the rebounding of Marcus Douthit giving the team 2nd chance opportunities. Gary David and Jeff Chan once again make their shots. But the one that really fired up the team was Gabe Norwood. He just played an all around game and making the go ahead basket 3pts shot.

After a facial dunk. Look at the fire in Norwood's Face!! HEART. |
Heart. If it weren't for this, they wouldn't even fight back and try to
make it close. But they just didn't give up on the game being down by double
digit going into the 4th quarter. Not just making it close but win it.
Analysis of the game:
The Bad: In the first half, we were unlucky not making shots, then it continued to forcing shots and turnovers. It also affected our defense as we're not fighting over screens. The second quarter really make it worst as we just scored 10pts in the quarter.

The Good: It really started in the 4th quarter where I really saw the defensive tenacity of our team. Many would say that this team can only score because of our shooters Fonacier, David, and Chan. But the defense of the shooters what really helped us win. The lock down defense didn't allow the Japanese to score points and were forced to commit turnovers. Then the defense turned out to be our great offense as we got our points from fastbreaks and freethrows (advantage foul).
Also, I noticed how they defend those 3pts shooters, they wisely avoid making contact to prevent fouls. Bravo!
The Turning Point: I got to give credit to coach Chot in this. The spark really happened when coach inserted 4 guard lineup with Tenorio, David, Chan, and Norwood. This really make our team quick which is a counter to the quickness of the Japanese. This means that Norwood will play PF which he did pretty well because of his athleticism.
